Hope and nourishment for families in Afghanistan

Qurbani Project brings real impact to families in Nangarhar, Afghanistan.

Real impact, real people

In the heart of Nangarhar province, where the harsh realities of poverty, unemployment, and food insecurity affect thousands of families every day, the Qurbani Project has become more than just a religious ritual—it has become a lifeline.

This year, during Eid al-Adha 2025, our team reached some of the most vulnerable communities across Chaparhar district Families living in mud houses, widows raising children alone, and elders who had not tasted meat in over a year were among the recipients of this sacred gift.

In Ghulam Dag area of Chaparhar, we met Rahat Gul’s family—a household of eight, led by a mother who lost her husband in conflict and now cares for her mute, mentally ill son. Her small chicken-raising business barely earns enough to buy bread. This Eid, when our team delivered a share of fresh Qurbani meat to her home, tears filled her eyes.

“This is the only time in the year we can eat meat. May Allah bless those who sent this.” Rahat Gul whispered with gratitude.

Her children, wide-eyed and smiling, helped their mother cook a warm meal they hadn’t enjoyed in months.
