A safe haven for families, children and their women from war torn areas of Gaza

Some may say Egypt has been seen as a safe haven for some of those who have had to protect their families, children and their women from war torn areas of Gaza, Palestine.

Being a location where more than 30,000 families have had to leave their homes behind and some having to leave family members for the safety of their vulnerable loved ones.  Having faced one of histories largest catastrophes, of displacement, evacuation and deprivation of basic nutrition and safe water.

With the continued deterioration in water security, with 84 per cent of assessed households experiencing moderate-to-high water insecurity. Access to water for domestic use declined between May and June, and drinking water was identified as the most pressing humanitarian concern, reported by 62 per cent of households.
Sanitation and hygiene conditions also remain concerning.

Eighty-six per cent of households reported barriers to accessing toilets and latrines, due to lack of water, privacy concerns, and poor cleanliness, among others. Environmental health risks persist, with 52 per cent of households reporting sewage or sludge near shelters and 43 per cent reporting nearby solid waste accumulation. More than half of households reported lacking hygiene items, while health concerns remain widespread, including skin diseases or scabies (64 per cent), bedbugs (31 per cent), and lice (22 per cent).

Through the support of Mother Helpage's donors, we have been able to provide support to more than 10,000 of the displaced refugees, both directly and indirectly with the basic needs such as food, shelter, dental care, cancer treatment, child mental support, time, counselling and education.

We hope to ensure a safer environment for those who have been displaced and to be able to provide the most basic necessities so as to be able to support the mass numbers and families.
